E-bomb (electromagnetic bomb)
A clear sky, yet you hear the crack of thunder and note a bright
lightning flash. Just a few seconds later, your company’s operation is
paralyzed. Not a single computer is functioning. All of your software, every
database is destroyed… for good. Even within your vault, stored back-ups are
history. In the wink of an eye, your company is catapulted back to the middle
ages.
E-bomb cooks it well-done
Science fiction? Not at all, now that the electromagnetic bomb
(e-bomb) is a fact. The U.S. military developed this weapon which releases an
exceptionally powerful microwave pulse. Many times stronger than a simple
lightning strike. The electromagnetic radiation is harmless to people, but will
shut down the electrical power grid and all electronic carriers.
E-bomb leaves communication paralyzed
The Americans have deployed the e-bomb successfully in Kosovo and
Afghanistan. Military personnel use the e-bomb to shut down the communication
capacity of their enemy.
Imagine for a moment that the same were to happen to your
company. All data for distribution, storage and invoicing shows up “zero”. You
competitors will be served your customers on a silver platter. Not fiction, but
very real threat; a terrorist can assemble an e-bomb for under 400 euros.
E-bunker protects against electromagnetic bomb
But it doesn’t have to be an e-bomb. Lightning strike, electrical
short, fire, water, computer crash, human error... any of these can be enough
to shut down your computer system. Fortunately, only 2 steps are needed to
protect yourself:
-
Provide for a regular back-up of your files.
-
Have the back-ups stored in a remote and secure
location.
Back-ups in electromagnetic bunker
The Merak Back-up solution combines both steps. You determine the
contents, the frequency and the exchange procedure for the magnetic carriers.
Merak stores them safely in sealed cases in the vault of its brand new electronic ‘bunker’.
This provides the only real protection against the e-bomb with its
‘Faraday cage’. This is a three dimensional lightning rod that snatches up the
electromagnetic radiation and directs it into the ground. Your back-ups remain
free from harm.
